As I was saying somewhere on this site, our people got skills. Growing up poor we had to learn to make the most of what we had, things like the hand-me-down clothes, two kids in the bath to save water, peanut butter, mustard and mayo sandwiches when we didn't have no meat. My mother was the queen of turning anything she had to something she needed. I believe Mzungu refer to this practice as "nig-er rigging". As a result I grew up with these skills also. Even when I started to make a good salary, I remembered my training and let nothing go to waste. Now in my old age I can make a nuke out of bubble gum wrappers and shoestring. Just call me Black Lady McGyver. All this stuff good for the ego and self-esteem. Mu'urs teach your kids how to stand on their own.Originally posted by The Real Deal View Post
